At the Frankfurt Book Fair (16 - 20 October, 2024), Guanto, an artwork from the Mobili per Uomo (Furniture for Man) collection, designed by Alessandro Mendini for the Bisazza Foundation, is on display at the Italian Pavilion, designed by Stefano Boeri Interiors.
The project is developed around the concept of an italian "Piazza" surrounded by a series of porticoes, columns, and staircases. In the center, the sculpture Guanto, covered with Bisazza gold mosaic tiles, cut and laid by hand. The artwork, in addition to showcasing the versatile nature of the material, highlights the craftsmanship and high artistic value of its creator.
Within this splendid setting, designed by the internationally renowned multidisciplinary architecture studio, visitors will be able to attend lectures, meetings and exhibitions about Italian culture. Italy is the Guest of Honor 2024.
"We are delighted that one of the most iconic artworks of our Foundation – Guanto, designed by Alessandro Mendini – has been chosen by Stefano Boeri Interiors as the protagonist of the Italian Pavilion, within the most prestigious book fair in Europe.
Alessandro Mendini, who was a refined writer, as well as a renowned architect and designer, would have been pleased."
